Local 97 is a party to a class action lawsuit that has been filed against New York State’s Natural Gas Ban Legislation. This lawsuit argues that the state law that will ban the installation of natural gas in new buildings conflicts with the federal Energy Policy and Conservation Act and that the federal statutes overrule the state measure.

The following Article XXIIIs are open and assigned to Local 97 ABMs and Business Reps as listed below. Our officers and staff will be working with members in these departments to bring the strongest possible Article XXIII proposals to the table.

National Grid’s 2023 APP award has been announced.

National Grid has notified Local 97 that continued payroll system issues have further delayed GWIs and Article XXIII raises. The retroactive pay adjustments from 4/30 to 5/27 will be taxed differently than normal wages which will help minimize members’ tax burden.

Local 97’s proposed bylaw change has passed with 80.8% “Yes” votes and 19.2% “No” votes. We are in the process of submitting the results to the IBEW for final approval.
